Report: Birmingham United (H) - Nuneaton Griff

Nuneaton Griff 1-2 Birmingham United

Saturday 22nd August 2026

Nuneaton Griff were beaten 2-1 by Birmingham United at The Pingles Stadium on Saturday 22nd August, in a game of two halves that ended in cruel fashion deep into stoppage time.

Manager's Reaction

Speaking after the game, First Team Manager Wayne Hadley said:

"First team game of two halves, we dominated the first half and should have been at least two goals to the good at half time. We went in 1-0 ahead thanks to a goal from Ruben Wilson."

"In the second half Birmingham United dominated for large parts and equalised from a header with 15 minutes to go. The match was looking like it was going to end a draw. I felt a poor referee decision not giving a foul on Keaton Blackbird, which ultimately led to a long ball over the top for the Birmingham United left winger to run clear and dispatch past Luca Bien right on the full time whistle."

"A bitter pill to swallow, but we will learn and bounce back quickly, I am sure. Thank you for your support today."
