Report: Ambleside Athletic (A) Friendly - Nuneaton Griff

Nuneaton Griff 3-2 Ambleside Athletic

Saturday 11th July 2026

Nuneaton Griff made it back to back wins in pre-season, beating Ambleside Athletic 3-2 at Nuneaton Academy on Saturday 11th July, kick off 2pm, just a day after their trip to Burbage & Huncote.

A 20-man squad was used, with two players from the previous night's game featuring again as Wayne Hadley continued to run the rule over a large group of players in a short space of time.

Manager's Reaction

Speaking after the game, First Team Manager Wayne Hadley said:

"Griff continued their pre-season, quickly two games in two days, with another good workout in the heat. A squad of 20, with two players appearing from last night, so a great exercise seeing a lot of players in a short space of time, apart from the holidaymakers."

"Three really good goals, the first two well worked moves ending in a clinical finish from Chadders, the second move blasted home from close range by Belcher."

"Ambleside came back into the game as changes were made and the game became stretched, and they scored two well taken goals."

"With time running out, Belcher cleverly backheeled for the late arriving Henley Hadley to bend in to the top corner from 20 yards, 3-2."

"Some good minutes for players, and always nice to win any game to get into good habits."

Looking Ahead

A big thank you to those who attended either match today against Ambleside Athletic or last night's test at Burbage & Huncote.

Griff's pre-season continues next Saturday with a coach trip to Pinxton, with a scheduled 1pm kick off.
