Nuneaton Griff picked up their first win of the 2026/27 season, beating Bolehall Swifts 3-1 at The Pingles Stadium on Wednesday 5th August, in a battling display against a stubborn Swifts side.

Mark Kintu opened the scoring inside the first minute, pouncing on a mistake from the Bolehall keeper to tap into an empty net.

Bolehall levelled things up late in the first half through a direct free kick to make it 1-1.

Kintu restored Griff's lead with a composed finish that kissed the inside of the post on 80 minutes, before Ruben Wilson wrapped things up deep into stoppage time, finishing coolly around the goalkeeper to make it 3-1 and secure the three points.

Manager's Reaction

Speaking after the game, First Team Manager Wayne Hadley said:

"We knew it was going to be difficult because we like to play football the right way, out from the back and between the lines, and draw teams onto us. But I've just seen the other side of us today, sheer determination to battle, scrap for every ball, the energy off the ball."

Man of the Match

Well done to Mark Kintu who picked up the Man of the Match award last night against Bolehall Swifts, presented by manager Wayne Hadley.

Mark worked tirelessly throughout the game, a constant threat to the opposition, and deservedly got himself on the scoresheet with two goals.

On another day he could easily have gone home with the match ball and a hat-trick.
