Nuneaton Griff Learn Valuable Lessons In Pinxton Defeat

Nuneaton Griff's pre-season continued with a 3-1 defeat away at higher-level opponents Pinxton, in what manager Wayne Hadley described as the most valuable test of the campaign so far in terms of assessing the squad.

Pinxton, who begin their season next Saturday, were at full tilt and posed a big test for the 21 players Griff took to the game.

Manager's Reaction

Speaking after the game, First Team Manager Wayne Hadley said:

"The first half was nowhere near the levels we expect, coming in 2-0 down at half time and contributing to both goals with very little goal threat from ourselves."

"Second half was the highlight, with good performances from Jake Thornton, Louis John, Harry John and goal scorer Luke Shilton especially."

"I though it was a real good second half team performance, we were unlucky to concede late on against the run of play. But that summed up the day really, Pinxton setting traps and cleverly picking us off at times, forcing us into mistakes."

Looking Ahead

Griff move on quickly to face Anstey Town on Wednesday night as we enter the latter stages of pre-season before the new campaign gets underway.
